First steps

Founded in the 1930s in Best, the Netherlands, by Uilke Egmond and his family, our company began by making stringed instruments such as mandolins, banjos and classical guitars. With the arrival of Rock & Roll and the rise of modern music, we decided to focus on the production of electric guitars, democratising access to music with affordable, quality instruments.

During the 1950s and 1960s, Egmond established itself as the largest guitar producer in Europe. Thousands of musicians began their careers with an Egmond in their hands, including legends such as Brian May, who had his first guitar with us before building the legendary "Red Special". Even John Lennon relied on an Egmond in his early days, making clear the impact of our brand on rock history.
